Podcast: Barry with Julie Klausner on How Was Your Week?

How Was Your Week? with Julie Klausner featured ME.

So how was my week? Pretty awesome!

In the official language: Solving Sondheim Julie talks with author and game designer Barry Joseph about Matching Minds with Sondheim: The Puzzles and Games of the Broadway Legend. They discuss Sondheim’s little-known life as a puzzle maker, his legendary game nights, and how his love of play shaped everything from The Last of Sheila to Sunday in the Park with George.

Julie called be a “charming, fascinating guy” (well, shucks!), said “the book is something else” offering “a different way to think about Stephen Sondheim” that is a “a must have.”

Julie joined me on the 3rd episode of my own podcast, sharing her deep knowledge about and passion for Stephen Sondheim, so I was beyond thrilled to get to spend more time with Julie (and this time swapping who was asking the questions).

There was a bit of a lag throughout. You’ll hear at times it sounds like we are talking over each other or not listening to each other; that is just an artifact that when she’d begin to speak I’d already be a few second into a new idea (not knowing she already was speaking). In any case I was so honored to be on her show and loved getting to spend time with Julie talking Sondheim.

But now I want to see a photo of that Game of the Goose board in her home, right?

Listen to it in full below but first,  because she let me open the show with the anecdote about my dad’s foot-stone, well… here it is, (and I guess it was a dash and not an asterisk!):
